Six-year-old mare Nutuzzi has run and won on many South-East Queensland tracks, including a recent Eagle Farm victory.
At the Sunshine Coast Inner Track, Deagon trainer Michael Lakey saw her again claim victory with a strong run in the Paint City Currimundi Open Handicap 1000m from barrier three.
“She jumped fairly well and booted through from the good alley,” said Lakey. “My apprentice Alexandra Kitson rode her, held her up nicely and gave her a bit of a kick before they straightened up and she found the line strong.
“Nutuzzi’s been up there and had a few jumpouts over the years on that track anyway. She’s always gone extra well; she’s only a tiny little thing.
“It probably suits her style of racing, she’s a real on pace runner and the shorter track probably suits her.
“The track looked great, looking at it on TV.”
A further five meetings are scheduled to be conducted on the track with one in December, January, February, May and June. The use of the Inner Track takes pressure off the course proper and also enables the synthetic track to be restricted to night meetings during the hotter periods of the year.
